The first act does a decent job of establishing the eerie atmosphere. The contrast between the students' modern, clinical worldview and the villagers' archaic, superstitious reality is handled well. However, once the trap is sprung, the pacing shifts from slow-burn dread to a relentless, chaotic chase. While some viewers might appreciate the lack of downtime, others may feel the second half devolves into a standard "run-and-hide" slasher, losing some of the rich folk-horror potential established early on.
