The Engineering Data Book is a technical manual that consolidates engineering design, operating procedures, and thermodynamic data for the natural gas processing industry. First published in 1935 (originally by the Natural Gasoline Association of America), this book has evolved through 14 editions (as of 2025) into a 1,000+ page powerhouse. reliable engineering information for process

For a junior engineer or a student, the book can be intimidating. It assumes a baseline knowledge of chemical engineering principles. It is not a textbook that teaches concepts; it is a repository of data. You will not find lengthy derivations of equations—only the equations themselves.

Scope and Purpose The GPSA Engineering Data Book aims to provide compact, reliable engineering information for process, mechanical, and design engineers working on gas treating, fractionation, refrigeration, compression, dehydration, sulfur recovery, and supporting utilities. Rather than presenting extended process flowsheet theory or proprietary design methods, it distills established correlations, material properties, and sizing data into a portable handbook to support quick checks, preliminary design, process simulations, and field troubleshooting.

Want to improve your work-life flow as a gas processor? Try these:

Google Chrome

By default, Google Chrome will attempt to send you to a different application in order to use FTP as you can see below when I try to download Qckvu3 from Artwork's web site:

Chrome's default behavior for FTP transfers

To correct this, first type into the address bar: chrome://flags and you will see the following window:

the chrome://flags window

Now type into the search bar: enable-ftp

You should see the flag for enable-ftp. If it is set to Default or to Disabled, press the label/button and select Enabled.

set the Chrome flag for enable-ftp to Enable.

Now all you need to do is to press the button labeled Relaunch at the bottom of the window. This will restart Chrome and your change will take effect.

Once you have done this, you should be able to download Artwork's software from our web site using Chrome.

successful use of FTP after changing chrome://flag enable-ftp to Enable

Microsoft Edge

Since recent versions of Microsoft Edge are built on Chrome, the instructions for enabling ftp on Edge are exactly the same as those for Chrome. (see above)
