To understand the piracy demand, we must first understand the product. Son of the Mask is the standalone sequel to the 1994 blockbuster The Mask , which starred Jim Carrey as Stanley Ipkiss. The sequel, directed by Lawrence Guterman, abandons Carrey entirely, focusing instead on cartoonist Tim Avery (Jamie Kennedy) and his newborn son, Alvey, who inherits the reality-warping powers of Loki’s mask.
