Sheanimale Pic Gallery Jun 2026

One photo showed a rugged fisherwoman sharing a quiet, intense gaze with a rescued seal. Another captured a young girl laughing, her hair tangled with the mane of a wild, white horse. There was a portrait of an elderly woman, her hands wrinkled like dry earth, gently guiding a butterfly toward a bloom.

The answer materialised in the form of the Sheanimale Picture Gallery. Rather than replicating the white‑cube model of the Western art museum, the gallery was conceived as an open, participatory space—one that would invite both creators and audiences to co‑author visual narratives. The building itself, a renovated grain silo on the outskirts of Nairobi’s industrial district, embodies this hybrid ethos: raw concrete walls juxtaposed with vibrant murals painted by local youth collectives. sheanimale pic gallery
