Directed by Stanislav Govorukhin and based on Viktor Pronin’s book Woman on Wednesdays , the story follows Ivan Fedorovich, a decorated World War II veteran. After his teenage granddaughter, Katya, is gang-raped by three young men—who are quickly released due to their connections with a high-ranking police official—Ivan realizes the legal system will not provide justice. Drawing on his past as an elite marksman, he sells his home to buy a sniper rifle and begins a methodical campaign of retribution against the perpetrators.
